West Somerset radio station beating BBC's Radio One

LOCAL radio station Quaywest 102.4/100.8 has jumped ahead of Radio One in the latest radio listening league table.
According to audience figures just released, 26% of listeners in Minehead, Porlock, and Watchet tune in to Quaywest each week, while Radio One trails in second place with 23%.
Station staff claim this impressive market share is down to a greater emphasis on local news, traffic and a better music mix.
“We are delighted by the way local people support their local station”, said Laser Operations Director Stuart Linnell.
“Dave Englefield, our station manager, and his team are totally committed to providing a truly local service for the area and their work is clearly being well received.”
“Breakfast presenter Drew Haddon is a big hit and I am very confident about the future of the station as we build on these superb figures.
“But we won’t let this achievement go to our heads. We will continue to provide the same great service we have all along”, added Mr Linnell.
Laser Broadcasting, formed in 2002, is currently acquiring radio stations across the UK with the aim of putting the ‘local’ back into local radio.
